克钦独立组织代表团与缅甸联邦级别的和平促进会会晤

   2011年1月18日下午1点15分，由春雷干先生率领的克钦独立组织代表团与由吴昂党率领的缅甸联邦级别和平促进会在中国瑞丽会晤。春雷干说，克钦独立组织想要有一个真正的联邦以及克钦人民和邦土的自决权。

    春雷干向缅甸政府代表团递交了一封信。信中声明，克钦独立组织欢迎政府的和平对话倡议，希望实现有实际意义的政治对话，以解决长期悬而未决的政治问题。彬龙协议在少数族群的平等权利和自决权上面从未得到尊重。在这份声明中，克钦独立组织表达了与缅甸政府进行基于彬龙协议基础上的政治对话的意愿。

    这是自2011年6月战争重新开始之后克钦独立组织与缅方进行的第六次会谈，有三次在*近克钦总部拉扎附近的拉扎央进行，一次在泰国的清迈进行，另有一次于2011年11月29日在中国瑞丽举行。

    KIO delegation led by Sara Kaba Sumlut Gam and Burmese government’s Union Level Peace Making Group led by U Aung Thaung met Ruili City in China on January 18, 2012 at 1:15 pm. KIO peace team leader Sara Kaba Sumlut Gam tells government officials that KIO wants a genuine federal union and self-determination rights for Kachin people and Kachin State, Kachin Net reported.

    Sara Kaba Sumlut Gam then handed over a letter to Burmese government delegation. The letter states that KIO welcomes government’s initiative for peace talks and is willing to engage in meaningful political dialogues with government to bring about lasting political settlements. The Panglong Agreement (a foundational document of Union of Burma signed by ethnic minorities leaders) was never honored for equal rights and self-determination for ethnic minorities. In the statement letter, KIO expresses its willingness to continue to engage with Burmese government for political talks based on Panglong Agreement.

    It is the sixth meeting between Kachin Independent Organization and Burmese government since renewed fighting has begun in June, 2011. Three meetings at Laja yang, near KIO headquarter Laiza, one at Chiang Mai in Thailand and another one was held at Ruili City in China on Nov 29, 2011.
